Better Process Control School

The Food Technology Program of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is conducting a Better Process Control School on April 18-21, 2017.  This is a company-specific course recommended for processing personnel from low-acid, acidified, and high-acid food plants, refrigerated food processing systems, meat and poultry operations, inspectors from the regulatory agencies of the food processing industry, food industry personnel in management, marketing, sales, and especially those who are in the export/ import business to learn how to reduce risks in their specific food operations. The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa is approved by the Commissioner of the United States Food and Drug Administration (US FDA) to present these required courses of instruction.

The US FDA will be enforcing more aggressively the regulations on training that all plant personnel of low acid and/or acidified food processing “shall be under the operating supervision of a person who has attended a school approved by the Commissioner for giving instruction” and “who has satisfactorily completed the prescribed course of instruction” (21 CFR 108.25 and 108.35). The rationale is that the regulations have been in effect for more than three decades. Not meeting this requirement may be used to deny such products entry into the United States.

This course is not open to the public.
