Discussion with the FDA
April 16 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
Tuesday, April 16, 2019
Homer A. Maxey International Trade Resource Center, 521 Ala Moana Boulevard, Foreign Trade Zone 9, Pier 2, Honolulu, HI 96813.
The US FDA is convening a discussion with Hawaii Brokers on April 16 in partnership with Dr. Aurora Saulo of the UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources’ Food Technology Extension Program. The purpose is to update the brokers about upcoming inspections under the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) and related programs. To this end, Hawaii Brokers are encouraged to invite the distributors and manufacturers in the U.S. whom they work with so that they can identify (then later agree in writing) who the FSVP Importer(s) will be and learn their responsibilities. Other related regulations will be open for discussion.
There is an FSVP course that is scheduled on April 8-9 to be conducted by Dr. Saulo. If you are using imported foods or ingredients (that you bought directly from foreign suppliers or through importers or via distributors or other channels), you are most likely under the FSVP regulations. When you attend this FSVP course, it should equip you with questions relevant to your needs that you can ask on the April 16 discussion with the FDA. Details of the FSVP course are on:
For questions or comments, please contact Dr. Saulo by email (see above) or by cell (808 226 1950).
Parking Directions: Upon turning to Channel Street from Ala Moana Boulevard, there is a parking lot on the right corner. Immediately after this lot is a small road with a sign for Homer A. Maxey International Trade Resource Center. Please slow down because it’s easy to miss this road. The Center will be at the end of this short road. Please park by the fence.
